Iran Holds Talks with Mediators Over US Deal Implementation
Araghchi indicated that Iran remained willing to pursue diplomatic solutions despite continuing tensions with Washington. He shared the remarks on a social media platform.
“While our Brave Armed Forces are fully prepared to defend the Homeland, Iran continues to give diplomacy a chance to succeed,” he said. “We remain in close and ongoing contact with intermediaries to review ideas that can ensure implementation of our 7-Day Plan in even less than a week.”
Iran submitted the proposal to Washington through Qatari intermediaries in September. The initiative calls for restoring normal navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and restarting negotiations with the United States within seven days, provided Washington accepts Tehran’s conditions.
Under the proposed framework, the United States would carry out several agreed measures during the first five days. These include halting hostilities, removing its naval blockade of Iranian ports, relaxing restrictions on Iranian oil exports and unfreezing Iranian financial assets.
The plan then calls for Iran to restore normal commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz on the sixth day, followed by the resumption of negotiations between the two countries on the seventh day to pursue a broader agreement.
The proposal remains contingent on both sides reaching an agreement on its terms.
